No, not new to Bristol, just to the LJ community. I have done the faire as a patron for the past 13 seasons, but found employment on a part-time basis over the past few seasons as well. This summer I was in on an "entertainment" pass and was playing drum jam with Antonio, Erycka, and Hatem as well as all the other drummers who join in and play. Our drum jam is such a great tradition. This summer led to my decision to travel and work the faire circuit as a full-time lifestyle and it looks like I won't be looking back any time soon. My destiny leads down this road and I am going to see where it takes me. My LJ journal is my document about making this transition. I am also on facebook and myspace. I update facebook regularly, and myspace occasionally. If you want to read one rennie's take on life on the ren-road, feel free to check it out.

Cheers and Anon...

Kirk

Just came across this community, I'm curious if I know anyone here.

This was my first season as an employee at Bristol, I've been a local who basically came once a year for a long time,

I had a few jobs this season,

I did mostly percussion with Antonio, here's some pix:

drum jam:

I mostly played timpani,

in the parade:
  queen's dances

I played doublebass also this summer, here's me and Zane Zirkel at the common house:

And me with Michi (Richard Miller, drum),
  and Water Street Bridge:

I am currently looking for a seamstress in the Chicago area that has the skill to make a dress similar to this. There will be significant changes to the design but this is the general silhouette we are looking for. It is a two piece dress, with a functional corset. Being able to make the corset is required. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm cross posting this everywhere, so I'm sorry if you see it more than once.  Casey is an awesome girl I met at Faire.  I don't know her well, I've only seen her twice, but I know a few of her close friends, so I get updates on her condition.  She has a rather aggressive cancer and is facing a possible amputation of her leg in the near future.  We're trying to win her a trip to New York to be pampered.  Two days ago she was in first place by a lot.  Today she is in second by a lot.  We're not sure how the other girl got so many votes so quickly, but we're fighting back.  You can vote once a day, so please bookmark the site.  Also feel free to repost this anywhere you can.

Just wanted to let the good people of Bristol know that I had a fantastic time the past few weeks and I enjoyed myself throughly as I have in previous seasons at Faire.
Everything was marvelously done and the shows were stupendous as usual!
Take care, all, and you never know, the TARDIS might find its way back to Bristol in the near future!
Love, The Doctor

P.S. If anyone managed to snap any photos of me the past few weeks, I'd love to see them if its ok with you and add them to my photo albums!

Current Mood: impressed impressed

I was wondering if someone would be so kind as to direct me to the Bristol Ren Faire forum. I heard about it but I haven't a link, and I'm once again searching for employment. I went to the grounds last week, but hardly any merchants had come yet, and no one had posted anything on the board yet. Help?

Adri costume

I'm selling my daughter's costume from last year.  I don't have any really good pictures of the whole thing, but these give you an idea at least.  Includes shirt, bloomers, brown skirt, rose tapestry bodice, and brown shoes.   Everything but the shoes was made by me. $60 for all.

The shirt and bloomers are muslin, elastic neck, wrist, waist, and ankles. Shirt is about knee length, bloomers are just above ankle length.  On warm days this is all she wore.

The skirt is elastic waist, some sort of linen, I think.  about 20 1/2" long.

The bodice is tan with dark red roses on it, couched grommets, tabbed bottom, matching hand braided lace.  About 9" neck to waist.

The shoes are a size 9, from soft star shoes.  Here is a picture from the website of what they looked like new, although they're quite a bit dirtier now and I put in a leather lace.
